  • What length are locum assignments?

    As a locum practitioner, you have the flexibility to choose the length of the assignment. Our assignments vary and can include a week of vacation coverage, shift work month to month, several months or can be ongoing. The length is dependent on what the facility’s needs are and what you agree to.

  • How will I be paid?

    This depends on where you work – the facility  chooses how a doctor or dentist is paid. There are generally three potential payment structures: 


    • You are compensated as an employee directly by the facility.
    • You receive payment as a contractor, again, directly from the facility.
    • Health Recruiters handles your compensation, paying you directly.

    Your personal consultant can let you know which method you’ll be paid by for each job you go for.


    For each job opportunity you consider, your designated consultant will provide clarity on the payment method you can expect.

  • Are accommodation and travel costs covered?

    In most instances, travel and accommodation assistance is provided to locum doctors. You will be provided with these details up front when you are discussing a role with your consultant.

  • What does a locum schedule tend to look like?

    The beauty of working as a locum is that you largely have the flexibility to create your own schedule. We have full time schedules, available shifts, call coverage and blocks. It also varies on specialty. We can provide you with more details during onboarding.

  • What paperwork do I need to become a locum?

    Our credentialing process is paperless. We'll typically need the following:


    • Regsiteration details
    • Current CV or LinkedIn profile
    • Referees
    • Evidence of vaccinations
    • Evidence of your degree/fellowship
    • Public Indemnity
    • A certified copy of your passport and/or driver’s licence
    • Police clearance
    • Working with children check
